The following is a summary of answers to frequently asked questions concerning financial aid and how to join my group.

Prospective students

  • Are you accepting new students to your group?

    I am accepting new students to my group. To join my group you have to submit an official application for study at IIT and provide all the necessary documents, including: GRE scores, transcripts, reference letters, and copies/names of any relevant publications you may have.Please express your interest in joining my group explicitly in your application.

  • Can you offer me a research assistant position or provide me with any other financial aid?

    To be considered for financial aid you need to submit an official application for study at IIT and provide all the necessary documents,including: GRE scores, transcripts, reference letters, and copies/names of any relevant publications you may have. Please express your interest in joining my group explicitly in your application.

  • I was admitted to IIT without financial aid. Can you provide me with financial aid?

    If your admission letter does not indicate that you will receive financial aid, immediate financial aid is not available to you. For information on possible RA positions please refer to the ``current IIT students’’ section.

  • Can you offer me an internship position?

    We do not have internship positions. To join my group you must be enrolled as a student at IIT.

Current IIT students

  • Are you accepting new students to your group?

    I am accepting new students to my group. To join my group you have to take at least one course with me. This will prepare you for work within my group and allow me to get to know you. It will also give you an idea of the kind of work that is done within my group so that you can know whether it is of interest to you.

  • Can you offer me a research assistant position?

    RA positions that I have are normally offered to graduate students who took a course with me, performed well in the course, and show genuine interest in my research. The RA positions that I can offer are normally tied to specific projects depending on the source of funding.

  • I am a MS student. Should I take the thesis option?

    Working on a thesis is important for students who are interested in research. This is especially so if you are considering joining the PhD program. Working on a thesis also provides you with valuable experience and can demonstrate to future employers your work abilities.Working on a thesis normally requires a period of 1 year (summer+fall+spring semesters) and requires the ability to devote time to research work during these semesters.

  • I am an undergraduate student. Can I work with you on a project?

    To join research in my group you first need to take a course with me. This will prepare you for the work and allow me to get to know you. It will also give you an idea of the kind of work that we do to see if it is of interest to you.Taking an undergraduate research course is a good way to focus on a specific topic and prepare you for future graduate studies. You should consider taking an undergraduate research course only if you are doing well in your studies and have the time to devote to it.
