CS 560: Computer Science in the Classroom

Course Description

Emphasis will be placed on how to organize a selected computer science course. Discussion of what to teach, the problems typically encountered in teaching, and how to best organize the concepts in a computer science course. Students will research what other colleges/universities are teaching, gather information from textbooks, interview professors who have taught the course, look at what the Advanced Placement Examination covers and find out what ABET recommends for the course. All of this research will assist in determining what concepts are to be contained in the course and the time allotment for a particular concept.

Research papers 12 hours
Exams 3 hours
Oral presentations 6 hours
Course material development 20 hours
