CS 561: The Computer and Curriculum Content

Course Description

Presentation techniques, from white-board to web-based instructional units using currently-available software. Emphasis on incorporating the computer as a teaching tool in the presentation of class material. Single Concept Learning Modules (SCLM) are developed. Each SCLM is developed to assist the instructor in preparing a lecture, and the students in the understanding of a concept. White/black-board presentations are video taped and critiqued, PowerPoint presentations are developed and critiqued.

Prerequisites

CS 350.

Objectives

Demonstrate an understanding of oral presentations in teaching.
Demonstrate an understanding of the different basic learning theories.
Identify the mastery of those tools needed to teach problem solving.
Demonstrate an awareness of the usefulness of Single Concept Learning Modules.
