Computer Science Assessment Process - Undergraduate Program Evaluation is an ongoing, overlapping process, with every year being a "Year #1" and "Year #2" as we work on implementing the previous Year #1 recommendations.

  1. Year #1, Spring Semester
    1. All instructors emailed course objectives for the courses they are teaching (all UG courses, before every semester)
    2. All instructors emailed program outcomes for the courses they are teaching and direct assessment instructions. (all CS4xx required courses, before every semester)
    3. Student Course Indirect Assessment of Program Outcomes (all UG courses, end of every semester)
    4. Instructor Course Direct Assessment of Program Outcomes (all CS4xx required courses, end of every semester)
  2. Year #1, Summer Semester
    1. Graduating Senior Survey - Direct Assessment of Program Outcomes (every year)
    2. Recent Alumni Survey - Direct Assessment of Program Objectives (every other year)
    3. Recent Alumni Employer Survey - Direct Assessment of Program Objectives (every other year)
  3. Year #1, Fall Semester
    1. All instructors emailed course objectives for the courses they are teaching (all UG courses, before every semester)
    2. All instructors emailed program outcomes for the courses they are teaching and direct assessment instructions. (all CS4xx required courses, before every semester)
    3. Student Course Indirect Assessment of Program Outcomes (all UG courses, end of every semester)
    4. Instructor Course Direct Assessment of Program Outcomes (all CS4xx required courses, end of every semester)
    5. CS Advisory Committee Feedback on Program Outcomes and Objectives (every other year)
    6. ACM Student Feedback Forum (every other year)
  4. Year #1, Winter
    1. Load all assessments for the calendar year into the Assessment System.
    2. Request Instructor and Course Manager feedback on courses support of Course Objectives and Program Outcomes using the Assessment System.
  5. Year #2, Spring Semester
    1. CS Undergraduate Committee reviews all Instructor and Course Manager feedback, considering relevant course changes made at the previous cycle, and makes recommendations for implementation.
  6. Year #2, Summer Semester
    1. Course Managers and Instructors prepare changes.
  7. Year #2, Fall Semester
    1. Course Managers and Instructors implement changes.
