The Undergrad Feedback Session was held on the 29th of November. Prof. David Grossman and Prof. Matthew Bauer were present. POINTS THAT WERE DISCUSSED ARE : 1. CIS / CS : The need of clarity regarding the differences between these two courses, especially for the newly admitted stduents. 2. CS 447 Distributed Systems : Possibilities of introducing practical/ real world experience into the course. How much is learnt from the course is current ? Is it enough for the job market ? 3. Data Structure course is dumbed down. 4. CS 451 Unix : Course no longer available. Need for an Operating System course dealing with implementation. 5. Introduction of new courses covering a wide range of topics. 6. IPRO - What is the future ? 7. Research for undergards : What are the steps involved ? How does one go about starting it ? 8. ACM Resources : Better advertising all resources available at ACM. 9. Course on Web Services : Introduction of a new course or adding to the curriculum of CS 447. 10. Open Source : Classes on stuff dealing with open source. 11. IT Industry standards : Introduction of a course dealing with these. 12. IIT Website : More active links needed. Cross-referencing and proper updation asked for. Integration of web for students and blackboard. 13. Course Descriptions : Include examples of actual work done in the course in the previous semester. 14. www access to Book Store on Campus 15. Projects : Discusing the team vs individual factor. How do we measure the contriution of each member in a team project ?
