Ralph Calvin (Cal) Speerly I

I’m sure a lot of fliers all over the country knew Cal. After 50 some years of model airplane building and flying, he passed away last month. He was my inspiration for getting in to the hobby. Cal has won so many trophies; his attic is full of them. His colorful nature and great flying skills has amused, and thrilled all who have had the privilege to see him fly.

He was a member of the Pekin RC, and Summit Valley clubs. He designed and built a plane, called the RC120. It is perhaps the best flying model, for beginner and experienced fliers ever designed.
