Lab expectations:

  • Typically there will be one assignment per week.  The assignment can be considered “homework” since it is to be completed outside of class.  The assignment is listed in the course calendar.
  • Completed weekly assignments should be brought to class on a portable media (thumb drive) or by email for grading on Wednesdays..
  • Each file should have the student’s name, course name, sec. #, date, name of file at the top in comments; points will be deducted from the grade if this format is not followed.  (See sample header at left.)
  • All code should be documented and nicely formatted
  • Each file should be named with the student's last name and appropriate descriptor: JonesLab1Hmwk, JonesLab1LabProb,
  • The completed weekly assignment should be zipped (named with student's last name, lab #) and submitted to BB digital drop box.
  • The student should keep a personal copy of all submitted assignments.  Assignments may be used for other assignments in the course.
  • Each student is responsible for DELETING ALL LAB WORK AND HOMEWORK  from the computer before leaving lab.
  • The TA and the instructor may run comparison programs on any homework/in class work.  Any program found to be similar to another student's will result in a zero for that assignment for all students involved.
  • Students should communicate to his/her TA about any absences by email  and cc the instructor:

·        If the absence is due to university business, the assigned lab work can be turned in to the TA to BB digital drop box prior to the assigned lab session; the missing weekly lab problem work must be completed the following week during the TA office hours.

·        If the absence is due to illness the student should provide the instructor with a written medical excuse from medical personnel;  the student should arrange to meet with the TA the following week to turn in the lab work to have it graded and complete the weekly problem assignment

Make-up Weekly assignments:

Students will be allowed 1 make-up assignment for the semester; a make-up assignment can be used for any non-excusable absence.  The student should submit the weekly assignment to BB digital drop box prior to the due date.  The student should notify the TA by email (cc the instructor) of the absence.  The student should arrange to meet a TA during office hours the following week to have the assignment graded.
