Short Bio
I received a Diploma (Master) in Computer Science from the RWTH Aachen in Germany, and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Zurich in Switzerland being advised by Michael Böhlen and Gustavo Alonso. Afterwards, I spend to two years as a PostDoc in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto working at the Database Research Group under Renée J. Miller. Here is a current CV.
Research
I am a database researcher. My research interest spans several areas of database systems such as scheduling, stream processing, data mining, information integration, and last but not least data provenance. In addition to having impacted the theoretical and practical research in data provenance, my work has attracted attention from the industry (IBM and Oracle) and earned me the opportunity to collaborate with IBM Research. I strive to develop solutions to emerging challenges in database systems such as tight integration of provenance support into database engines, provenance for distributed data processing paradigms, and provenance for updates and transactional workloads.
