FermiCloud Project:  Developing Scientific Workflows on the Cloud

Steven C. Timm

Date and Location: Thursday, April 4th, 2013, 11:00am - 12:00pm @ Stuart Building, Room 239.

The FermiCloud Project has deployed a flexible Infrastructure-as-a-Service Private Cloud for scientific users at Fermilab.  Now together with our collaborators at the Korean Institute for Science and Technology Information we are launching a joint program of work to enable scientific workflows across multiple cloud facilities. We will describe a number of interesting development tasks in cloud provisioning, interoperability, and federation which will use FermiCloud, other community clouds, and commercial clouds.

Dr. Steven C. Timm has led the FermiCloud project since its beginning in the fall of 2009.  He is leader of the FermiGrid Services Group in the Scientific Computing Division at Fermilab, where he has been employed since 2000.
