IIT Mourns Professor LoCicero

Joseph LoCicero Memorial Service The Joseph LoCicero memorial service will be held in the E1 Auditorium next Friday, August 29, from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Friends and family including Mohammad Shahidehpour, Don Ucci, John Anderson, Sande and Jennifer LoCicero will speak at the service. A tree planting will immediately follow on the east side of Siegel Hall. Professor Joseph LoCicero of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department passed away unexpectedly on July 19. Professor LoCicero joined the IIT faculty as Assistant Professor in 1976 and has had a significant impact on the education of many graduates of Armour College of Engineering. He was an inspiring teacher, a productive researcher, and a wonderful colleague. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a dear friend and colleague. Our thoughts and prayers are with the LoCicero family. LoCicero was an accomplished researcher and inventor, holding 4 patents in the area of high definition TV, one patent in automatic speech recognition, and having authored over 75 technical articles. He was very active in the Communications Society (ComSoc) of the IEEE, and received the IEEE ComSoc McLellan Meritorious Service Award in 1993. Contact Amy Henson at henson@iit.edu with any questions about the service.
